Lucy's Thanksgiving Program

Lucy had her Thanksgiving program at school today. The preschool sang first and did several songs about Pilgrims, Indians, and Turkeys.

Lucy was excited to see us :)

It was a typical performance for preschoolers. . . Some were singing, some were crying, some were in their own little world.  There was a group of 4 year olds on the end who were singing all the songs loudly - but they were about 5 seconds faster than the rest of the group.

In the picture below, notice the little girl in the orange dress. Her Daddy knocked into the boys' stroller, waking them up (and no notice or apology from him!) in order to videotape his daughter do this exact same facial expression for the entire program. We're so glad he didn't miss that. I know how important it is to have these memories of your children, but a little courtesy would be nice. After all, everyone in that room was there to see a child in the program.

After the preschool part, the elementary classes each sang a song and then a group of middle schoolers did a "skit."  Michael's face pretty much sums up the rest of the program. . .

The boys had some good playtime this evening so we pulled out the camera to catch some smiles. Charlie and Uncle Day Day had a long conversation. . .

And there are two of these cutie pies at my house :)

3 months old . . . a little late!

Sorry to be so behind. . . I think about updating with pictures all the time but then the day gets away from me and it's time to go to bed. And these days, I am choosing sleep when I can get it!

Our October ended here in Weaverville with a little bit of snow. . . just enough to make the outside white, but not enough to cause any dangerous travel conditions. It was beautiful but makes me worry about the winter to come. . .

Lucy has been doing well. . . still as crazy as ever! :)

She is really enjoying school and just gets smarter every day. She can now write her name pretty well as well as spell some basic words. She's also identifying simple sight words like "for," "the," "go," etc. It seems like every day she has something new that she knows and I am constantly amazed at how smart she is. Nothing gets by her either! I started some "Santa" shopping last week and when we got home from preschool, there was a box on the front porch. I didn't say anything about it and Lucy looks at me and says, "What did you order from Wal-mart, Mommy?" Apparently, the child recognizes their logo as well. . . I will have to hide my secrets a little better!  She is learning to use the computer at school in her Computer Pals class (which she LOVES!) so we have been doing some computer activities here at home. At school, I have used the Starfall website for some activities in my music class so I pulled it up at home. It works with letter recognition as well as beginning reading skills. Not only can Lucy now follow along and "read" the stories we have done but she can navigate the website herself. It's been nice because it entertains her, is educational, and she can do it herself while we are feeding the boys and it keeps her from feeling neglected!

We had a stressful, crying-filled week with the boys. I am assuming it was just a growth spurt since that behavior has (thankfully!) moved on from our house, but let's just say that my sanity was definitely tested a time or two. These boys loved to be held and while snuggle time is great, sometimes other things like cooking dinner, or laundry, or taking a shower need to be done. That's where these lifesavers come in handy. . .

The swing that Lucy had no longer works and it was so hard to find a swing that would just swing! It seems like everything these days plays music or vibrates or moves from side to side . . . we found those at Walmart though and the boys LOVE them! Mommy and Daddy love them too. :)

In other news, the boys turned 3 months old on Nov. 10th. . . for the past couple months, I have taken Lucy's picture with them each month so in keeping with that tradition, we finally got one snapped tonight.

I cannot believe how quickly they are growing! Unofficially, they are 23 inches long now and closing in on 12 lbs. They hold their heads up so well and do a pretty good job of lifting themselves up when they have tummy time. They still have yet to roll from back to front or front to back, but not for lack of trying. As soon as they can figure out how to get their head to roll with the rest of their body, they will be all over the place! They like to scoot their bodies around on their play mat. I turned around one day and Charlie had moved from one side to the other! They have dropped their 11 PM feeding. These days they run on a pretty consistent 2-5-8-11 schedule but we get a little sleep after the 8 Pm feeding until around 2 AM. Other than that, we are awake every 3 hours. These boys sure love to eat - you can set your clocks by them! They are good though about sleeping in their cribs though as long as it is dark outside. . .once the sun comes up though, that's it! Naptime tends to happen in their swings these days but I figure as long as they are sleeping in their cribs at night when it matters, we're doing ok. We moved them to separate cribs this week - they have just been moving around too much and now need their own space. Both have seemed to handle the transition pretty well. Here are a few pictures from some of our playtime recently. . .

Charlie - he loves DeerOwl - Carissa gave this to Lucy when she was this age and she loved it just as much as he does.

And speaking of Alex, he has a new buddy. It seemed like every time after a feeding, he would grab on and "hug" his burp cloth. I had taken him to Walmart with me one day and so I bought him a little monkey blanket. He loves this toy and cuddles it all day long. All we do is give it to him - he grabs on and cuddles up to his new friend.

I looked over this evening and this is what I saw. . I swear this is not a posed shot! :)

So that's life at the Flack house. . . fortunately, things seem to be settling into a routine and life has begun to feel like it has some normalcy.  Of course, we are headed into the holidays, so all of that may quickly go out the window. . .  But we wouldn't have it any other way.
