Look out preschool - here come the Flack boys!

My sweet babies started preschool this week! I can hardly believe it. On Wednesday, they had their first day of preschool at Calvary. Even though they are three, they missed the age cut off so they are going to the 2 year old class three days a week. Their first morning of preschool, these two pictures popped up in my Time Hop app on my phone - these photos were from three years ago to the day:

Sometimes it seems like these days were just yesterday and sometimes it's so hard to believe that Alex and Charlie were ever this tiny. And now, here they are, heading off to preschool!

They woke up at 5:45 on Wednesday morning, so excited to be getting ready to go to school. After getting dressed and having breakfast, I told them I wanted to take a picture of them for their first day like I did for Lucy. Alex insisted that we take them out on the front porch.

And of course, we had to have one with Lucy!

When we got to school, the boys weren't willing to let me take their picture there. We walked down the hall towards their classroom, and even though they were excited, you could tell Charlie was a little nervous because he wouldn't let go of my hand. Of course, once we got to their room and they saw all the toys, they took off to play. They said their goodbyes and didn't look back.

I don't work on Wednesdays so once they were in class, Michael and I headed out to breakfast. It was so nice to have a morning alone! We even got some cleaning done before it was time to go back and pick them up. They had a great day and were so excited to go back on Friday. I think they are going to have a great year!

Lucy's first day of first grade!

I can't believe it, but the first day of first grade has arrived!! Last night, Lucy had her backpack packed, her lunch ready to go, and her clothes picked out. We got up early this morning and snapped a few pictures on the way out the door.

Charlie wanted to take a picture with Lucy . . . Alex wasn't quite in the mood that early!

Apparently since we went to breakfast last year on her first day of school, it is now a tradition. So we headed out to Biscuitville and Lucy got her "traditional" 1st day honeybun. She only ate about 1/2 of it . . .she said she was just so excited!

On our way to school, Lucy was so worried that we were going to be late. The car clock said it was 7:29 and the kids can't even walk to their class until 7:40. When we "finally" got to school at 7:32, she couldn't get out of the car fast enough! She was willing to put up with her Mommy's need for a few more first day pictures.

And then just a few Mommy/Lucy pictures. . .

I can't believe how much she has changed from the first day of Kindergarten to first grade! She looks so big!!

Lucy had a good first day. It took a long time to get any details out of her, but it sounds like it was lots of fun. She was excited that some of her friends from Kindergarten were out on the playground while she was there. She also got chosen to help with a magic trick during the assembly at school. And now she's sound asleep with her lunch packed and outfit picked out for tomorrow. So far, first grade is pretty great!

And then, these guys had their first mini visit to preschool. They had a great time and I had to carry Alex out of school! He kept saying, "I want to stay!" I hope they have as good a time when they really start on Wednesday.

Here they are in their school shirts . .. which are just a little big . . .

Happy 3rd birthday to my babies!!

I cannot believe that my babies are 3. THREE!!! I still can remember their birthday like it was just a few months ago and it can't be that long since they were those tiny little creatures whose preemie clothes were hanging off of them. Now here they are, turning 3 and getting ready to start preschool.

We were going to have their party at the pool but the weather didn't look like it was going to cooperate. So we changed plans and decided to go to the Fellowship Hall at Union. We could eat and open presents and play.  The boys and I got their just before 5 to set up. They could hardly wait to put on their party hats and get their blowers.

Everybody began to arrive and soon Daddy got their with the food and birthday balloons for the boys. They loved these balloons SOOO much!! We should have just gotten that as their gift and they would have been the happiest little boys!

But of course, there were plenty of presents!!!

We sat down to eat our dinner - PDQ!!! The boys love to go eat there but even though everyone else seemed to enjoy their dinner, the boys were just too excited to eat anything!!

After everyone ate, it was time for presents. As soon as they would open one, they would take it over to Poppa and Uncle Lattie and ask them to get it out of the package so they would be ready to play.

Notice how Charlie is trying to hold onto all of his new trains and still come help open presents. ;)

And speaking of growing up too fast, look at this precious girl!!

We had to stop and play a little - opening presents is so much work and sometimes you need a break!

After present time, we came and sat down for cupcakes. We ordered vegan cookies and cream cupcakes for their birthday from our favorite bakery, Sweet Josephine's.

MMMM!!! They may not have eaten dinner, but they were ready for some cupcake!

A video of everyone singing "Happy Birthday" to them. I just love their sweet faces and how happy they are. Moments like these just make my heart want to burst and make all those crazy, hectic twin days worth it all.

After cupcakes, it was time to play! It was probably a good idea to switch the party to the Fellowship Hall - I don't know that we would have ever gotten to the pool because of all the toys we had to try out!

Lucy and Uncle Lattie having fun

When it was time to leave, it was POURING down rain. We waited it out for a little while. . . at least until we could see through the falling rain. Gramma brought the kids an umbrella so they could walk to the car without getting too wet.

I think the boys had a great time at their party and they were spoiled rotten. We will be playing with trains for a LONG time!! Happy birthday, my precious Charlie and Alex. I love you more than you will ever know. You are two of the sweetest, handsomest, most darling little boys in the whole world and sometimes I just can't believe that God chose me to be your Mommy. I am so grateful - my cup runneth over.
