A Lazy Sunday and Magic Kingdom Monday

We designated Sunday as a lazy day for the kids. After all the excitement of driving and staying in hotels, we wanted a day to adjust before we went to the parks. Everyone was so excited to get to wear shorts - after leaving a chilly 43 degrees in NC, the 80+ degrees in FL felt like it was summer time! And what do you do in the summer time? Wear your sunglasses, of course!!!

Poppa and Daddy went to the airport to pick up Uncle Lattie. He was flying in to play all week with us. They went to the Braves Spring Training game that afternoon and Grammy, the kids, and I explored around the resort. We went for a couple of walks, went and had some lunch, and then attempted to have everyone take a nap! We watched some movies, mostly Mary Poppins ("Mary Pop" as the boys say) and Toy Story (our current obsession). As soon as it was dark, we called it an evening to get ready to "ride rides" at the Magic Kingdom!

We got up early on Monday so that we could make it to the theme park right when it opened. The park opened at 8:00, so we figured we could play all morning until we were just too tired and then head back to the hotel for a nap.

Alex is ready to go!

Lucy, waiting for the monorail

We're here!

As we walked into Main Street, who was arriving but Mary Poppins!! After watching the movie several times already this week, the kids were very excited. Lucy had picked out an Elsa autograph book so she could get the signatures of all the characters she met. I got one for each of the boys too so that they wouldn't feel left out. I had no idea how much they would like holding those books!!
Everyone got their books out and went over to meet "Mary Pop!"

Lucy and her autograph book. She had Mary Poppins sign on the second page because she wanted to leave the first page for Elsa's signature. ;)

After meeting Mary Poppins, we headed towards Cinderella's castle. (or "Cackle" as the boys say)

And what would a trip to the Magic Kingdom be without a group shot with the castle in the background?? And yes, Michael is here with us. . . he had gone into a store looking for something and didn't make it back out in time to get into the picture. (Don't worry, we took pictures another day that included him too!)

Once we walked through the castle, everyone of course gravitated towards Prince Charming's Regal Carousel. We love riding the carousel at the mall, so this was a ride we are very familiar with :)

After we got off the carousel, we got ready to head for our First Fast Pass stop of the day, "Enchanted Tales with Belle." The boys weren't too excited to have to get back in the stroller. Of course, that was a regular occurrence after every ride. . . as much fun as they have walking around, there are just too many people to let them walk! I checked my email as we got ready to head over and Disney had emailed to say that our first fast pass was not working at the time we were scheduled for. It was temporarily closed that morning so we would not be able to use it at our regular time. The email said we could wait and use it at another time during the day or we could trade it in for one of six choices. And guess what - meeting Elsa and Anna was one of the choices!!! I had tried to get a fast pass to meet them when we first got our tickets but they were already booked up. We had told Lucy if she wanted to meet them, she was going to have to stand in a REALLY LONG line (almost two hours long!!) but when we saw this, there was no question! So we hopped on over to Princess Fairytale Hall, got in the fast pass lane and headed in!!

Waiting at the rope - a five minute wait versus a 2 hour wait!!!

Autograph time!!!

Lucy's trip was made right here. . meeting her favorite princess!

And after one with everyone, we had to have just Princess Lucy! :)

And then we got to go see Anna!

I'm so glad that the boys are still young enough to not mind visiting all the princesses. They always had hugs for each princess every time we said goodbye. So sweet!

Lucy and Anna

After visiting Elsa and Anna, you have to walk through the gift shop. (Of course!) Lucy loved this Minnie Mouse!

Now that Lucy's dream was complete, it was time to ride Mommy's all time favorite ride, Mad Tea Party! I have always loved the tea cups and the kids do too.

Uncle Lattie took this video:

After the Mad Tea Party, we headed over to The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Disney World has added several things to many of the Standby lines making them interactive and so there were lots of fun things to play with while we waited to ride.

Melon and pumpkin drums!

In this game, you got to make the tomatoes bounce around the fields.

On the other side of the fence, they had gophers popping in and out of their holes. The boys loved these!

After that, we went and rode Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid. This was another ride that Lucy had on her "must do" list. We had watched this one several times on YouTube and so we were ready! Lucy wanted to ride Dumbo next so we headed over there. Dumbo has moved and expanded from what I remember. It also had an interactive line. You got a pager and then went inside the circus tent where there was an indoor playground area to occupy you until it was time to fly.

The interactive area was cute and a lot of fun. I think it's a great idea for keeping little ones from getting tired while waiting in line. . plus it's indoors so you are out of the heat. We played for a while and people kept getting called out but our buzzer never went off. The kids had played all they could with everything and were ready to ride and still we weren't called. I kept thinking we would be next but we waited and waited. . . finally, I sent Michael up there to ask. It turns out we had a faulty pager so they sent us straight on through. That was frustrating - I guess we should have asked sooner, but I didn't want to seem like an impatient person who couldn't wait there turn. Oh well, we will know better for next time.

Lucy rode with Uncle Lattie!

Charlie rode with Mommy and Alex with Daddy. ( Sadly, I don't have a picture of them!)

Everyone enjoyed Dumbo and I know Charlie really enjoyed being the one in charge of how high Dumbo got to fly! He was very pleased with himself as he moved the lever up and down. :) After getting off the ride, we went over to the designated stroller area to get our two strollers. We had the boys double stroller and then we had borrowed one for Lucy. While the boys didn't want to sit in their seats, Lucy was quite the opposite. She enjoyed being pushed everywhere!! However, when we got to our strollers, only the boys stroller was there. We looked around to see where the other stroller was and it was no where to be found. We talked with the cast member at the stroller area, but there was really nothing they could do. Someone had walked off with it. By this time of day, it was getting rather warm and we hadn't eaten yet and my nerves were a little short. I was so irritated and upset that someone would walk off with a stroller that didn't belong to them. Of course what likely happened is that they weren't paying attention and weren't even really sure what their umbrella stroller looked like and just grabbed one that looked familiar to them. Oh well  . . .nothing I could do about it at that point, so we just moved on. Disney did offer to let us use one of theirs for free for the remainder of our trip but I declined since I didn't want to have to walk over to customer service and wait. Lucy was now frustrated though because she was going to have to walk!

We finished at Dumbo and had to hurry over to Fairytale Princess Hall again to use our last fast pass of the day to meet Cinderella and Rapunzel. I'm sure the next time we go to Disney world, the kids will be more interested in riding bigger rides so we won't waste our fast passes for characters, but I have to tell you how nice it was to just be able to go in and see the princesses (or any character!) and just be done with it. I can't imagine standing in line all afternoon just for 2-3 minutes to get your picture taken!!

Autographs from Cinderella

While she was signing books, Cinderella was telling the kids that she had eaten pancakes for breakfast. She asked Lucy what she had eaten and Lucy responded, "BeBo's!" So then we had to explain to Cinderella that is what we call Pecan Swirls at our house. :)

By this point in the day, the boys were really awake and into meeting the princess. (They had been a little sleepy that morning!)

Meeting Rapunzel!

Rapunzel told us that she had pancakes too!

Sweet hugs again!

After our visit with the princesses, it was time for lunch!! The closest place to eat was the Pinocchio Village Haus so we headed there. Of course, by this time of day, all the late sleepers had arrived at the park and it was crowded!! We got a couple of shaded tables outside, which we were fortunate to find, and everyone sat down and had a little something to eat. Lucy and I shared some pizza and I had a lemonade slush that I am still dreaming about! I'm not sure if it was just that delicious or if it was because I was so hot, but I could have had two or three of those!!

Lunch was over but since it was still so hot and everyone was reaching the end of their limit for the day, we went and sat and watched Mickey's Philharmagic 3-d show. Lucy liked her "movie glasses". .

The boys didn't care much for having to wear glasses during the show but they sat and watched it. After that we headed over into Tomorrowland. We had thought about riding the cars at the Tomorrowland Speedway but there was a huge line! So we just headed onto the People Mover, which turned out to be a great idea. Everyone enjoyed the idea of a "ride" while getting to sit and relax with a slight breeze! The kids were fascinated by everything they saw on the ride and Lucy at the end of the day said it was one of her favorite rides! It was also neat because Space Mountain was closed that day and we got to see what it looked like when the lights are on!

We pushed our luck one too far by going to sit through the Carousel of Progress. While nice and air conditioned, Lucy wasn't that interested in it and the boys were really just done for the day. We bribed them all with "cay-cay" (Candy . . . Skittles, to be specific!) to keep them as quiet as we could until it was finished and then we got back in the strollers and headed for the parking lot. We got back on the monorail (the boys called it a Choo Choo) and then got a tram out to our car. It was about 3:00 when we left the park for the day and I'd say that we crammed quite a bit of fun into that time!!  The rest of our evening was quiet, at least as quiet as it can be with a five year old and two 2 year olds! We rested up for another big day tomorrow!
