Dixie Classic Fair!

As has become our tradition, we went to the Dixie Classic fair on canned food night. (Bring 5 cans to donate and get free admission! You know us, we love a deal!) The kids were so excited!

Our first stop was food. (We got there around 1:00 and no one had eaten lunch yet.) The boys were a huge fan of "chicken on a stick!"

After eating, we went and saw the exhibits. Lucy found all the artwork from her school and from Calvary. There was also an exhibit where you could "feed" the butterflies. The kids each got a paint brush dipped in sugar water and you would have a butterfly come and sit on your brush. It was pretty neat and they were so excited to see butterflies up close and personal.

Of course, no trip to the fair is complete with rides! We told them that we were only going to ride 2 rides a piece so they had to choose carefully. . . the boys wanted to ride these big trucks. However, I think they were a little disappointed that they had to "drive" in the back of the truck! Oh well!!!

After riding one ride, we had to stop and go get our seats for the pig races. The boys remembered doing this last year and insisted on it again this year. They also remembered that we had cotton candy while we watched, so we continued that tradition as well. These boys can eat some cotton candy!! :)

We went back to the rides after the races and everyone wanted a turn on the "Go Gator!" Lucy was also excited to ride because some of her friends from school were there at the same time.

We walked around and saw some animals as well. Alex was so excited to see a building full of "Bo Bos!" (His word for sheep)

We had a little more food before we left. What did everyone want of course? Chicken on a stick!!

You know it was a good time when everyone falls asleep in the car as we leave!!

Halloween costumes

With Halloween coming up, the boys had very specific ideas about what they wanted to be for Halloween. Since Paw Patrol is so popular, I knew I had better order them early so we will be able to find the costume they wanted.

Alex wanted to be Chase

Charlie wanted to be Marshall

Such sweet boys!

After they had tried their costume on to make sure they liked it, Alex ran around in his underwear and hat, shouting "I nakey Chase!"

The boys said they wanted to wear their Halloween costumes to school but I told them that we couldn't do that at Calvary Day School! So then they decided that on Halloween at school, Charlie would be Alex and Alex would be Charlie! We will see if they actually follow through with it!!

Lucy decided she wanted to be a Shopkins character for Halloween. Out of the different choices, she choice "Lippy Lips." (a tube of lipstick!) She loves her costume and can't wait to wear it!

I did tell her she may have to wear a shirt and leggings with it . . . October can be a little chilly!!

David and Bri's wedding shower

I'm so far behind!! At the beginning of the month, we had a wedding shower for my brother David and his fiancee (now wife!), Bri. Here's a little from our day.

We had a Bible, where guests could highlight a special verse for them.

David loved gingerbread men from the Sweet Shoppe as a kid, so we had Bride and Groom gingerbread people made!

Everyone had a nice time visiting

We had lunch from Carter Brothers - it was delicious!

Present time!

Of course, the kids had to help!

1st Days of School

Whew! What a busy month September has been! Here are our firsts though as we started back to school at the end of August:

Alex

Charlie

Everyone has been having a good start to school. We have been a little tired and cranky in the evenings as we adjust to our new schedule. Lucy has also started her drama class and ukulele lessons. Everyone's behavior at school has been good (so far!) and it's been fun to hear them come home and talk about their days. School is a lot, but it's nice to have our life fall back into a schedule! :)
